Western Illinois University student shoots roommate

Kavion Poplous | WIU

MACOMB, Ill. (WJPF) — The search is on for a Western Illinois University student who shot his roommate.

School officials say 18-year-old freshman Kavion Poplous shot his roommate around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after a dispute. The victim was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

Although police believe this is an isolated incident and there’s not an immediate threat to those on the Macomb campus, they do say Poplous should be considered armed and dangerous.

All classes at Western have been cancelled for Wednesday.
