CHESTER, Ill. (WJPF) — A lower weight limit is now in effect for the Chester Mississippi River Bridge.

A recent inspection shows deterioration of the nearly 80-year-old structure, requiring the weight limit of 25-tons.

Repair work will close one lane of the bridge. Temporary traffic signals are now in place to control traffic through the work zone.
