Carbondale man sentenced for firing gun inside Carbondale Police Station

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) — A Carbondale man will spend the next 15 years behind bars for firing a gun at police.

Eric Brown, 37, pleaded guilty to aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Prosecutors say that in May 2019, Brown was in the custody of the Carbondale Police, and being processed inside the police station, when he took out a gun he had hidden in his waistband, pointed it at police, and fired.

No one was hurt. After three hours of negotiations, Brown turned the gun over to police.
