CARBONDALE, Il. (WJPF) — Carbondale Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a bullet.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim told police he was walking in the area between Tatum Heights Park and the 800 block of East College Street when he heard 2 or 3 gunshots and was hit by one of them.

The victim ran away and later called a friend who drove him to the hospital.

Police say the bullet resulted in a non-life threatening wound.

An investigation is ongoing.
