A high school basketball coach from Kentucky is facing charges following a weekend incident in Carbondale.

Police were called for a reported hit and run near the intersection of West Grand and South Illinois Avenue. just before 2 a.m. Saturday. A vehicle had struck a light pole.

Police say the driver, 31-year-old Wesley Overstreet of Paducah, Ky., was impaired and had controlled substances and other narcotics without a prescription. Overstreet is the head basketball coach at St. Mary School in Paducah. The team participated in the Carbondale Holiday Tournament.
