Carbondale City Council passes recreation marijuana measures

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — Legal recreational marijuana will be coming to Carbondale next year.

At their meeting Tuesday night, The Carbondale City Council passed a pair of measures allowing the sale of marijuana and setting the local tax rate.

Only adults 21 and over will be able to buy marijuana at licensed dispensaries.

The tax rate was set at 2%. A full percent lower than the local tax rates recently set in Williamson County, Anna, and Mt. Vernon.
