Estimated 30 acres burn in Herrin fire

HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) — An estimated 30 acres burned in a brush fire in Herrin.

Flames reached heights of roughly 50 feet Monday afternoon. The smoke could be seen for miles.

The fire started on the city’s east side, not far from the City work yard.

Multiple fire departments worked to put out the fire, eventually getting the job done by about 7:30 PM.
