Pritzker signs laws to protect immigrants

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed a package of new laws to help protect immigrants living in Illinois.

One of the new laws bans immigrant detention centers from setting up in Illinois and another creates the “Rise” Act. That ensures undocumented and transgender students have access to college map grants.

A third new law prevents local police from participating in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) efforts.
