Attorney criticizes special prosecutor

The attorney for Gaege Bethune says there was no need for a special prosecutor in his case and the attorney is calling for the investigation into Pravin Varughese’s death to end.

In a 13-page filing, Steve Greenberg alleges improper conduct on the part of special prosecutor David Robinson. Robinson was appointed after Jackson County State’s Attorney Mike Carr recused himself.

Greenburg’s motion is not for Bethune’s criminal case, just the investigation, according to published reports.

Varughese died in February 2014, after a fight with Bethune.

Judge Mark Clarke ordered a new trail for Bethune in September.
