A Saline County man is custody after he hit a sheriff’s deputy.

Police say 50-year-old Robert Starnes became agitated and struck the officer while he was responding to a disturbance call Saturday evening.

After hitting the officer, Starnes locked himself in his apartment.

He was taken into custody a short time later.
